Hi, I’m Lisa Read, the principal oboist with the Longmont Symphony Orchestra and the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra. My passion for music began with a love for collaboration, a driving force that led me to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree from the Eastman School of Music and a Master’s from the University of Southern California. Currently, I am completing my doctorate in oboe performance at CU Boulder.
Throughout my career, I have immersed myself in various musical expressions, studying the baroque oboe, oboe d’amore, and English horn, and performing in chamber music settings that highlight the beauty of collaborative artistry. This dedication to the art has enriched my practice and fueled my desire to teach and support students on their musical journeys.
In addition to performing, I specialize in reed-making; crafting oboe reeds for players at every level. My goal is to help each student discover their unique voice; through mastering the oboe, developing reed-making intuition, or finding deeper artistic connections through music. I’m excited to bring my experience and passion to students ready to take their skills to the next level in a community-centered environment.
